The second edition of The Post Game Newsletter features Buffy Filippell on episode 77 of the podcast. Buffy is the founder of TeamWork Online, the #1 Way To Find Jobs In Sports & Entertainment.
Also going to toss in a few things I came across this week I thought were cool and update you on who to expect in future episodes of the pod.

But first…a few takeaways from the conversation with Buffy:
The Power of (Naive) Persistence
Buffy talks about getting her start in the recruiting industry early on. Sending applications through to Korn Ferry, getting the typical rejection response of “we’ll let you know if anything opens up”. Instead of moving onto the next thing, she picked up the phone, called Dick Ferry’s office (founder of the company) and told them if they’re going to tell her no, she wants to hear it from Dick himself…..that led to them calling her back and offering her the job.
Lessons in Sports that Translate to Sports Business (Or Any Field)
She rattled off several translatable skills off the top of her head that she sees athletes take directly into the business world:
The grind and ability to stay on task / perseverance
Finding different / unique ways to get better
Being coachable
Improving communication to pour into relationships more
She also said the over 50% of women in the C-suite are former college athletes
Telling Your Story
“The world belongs to storytellers.” I’m pretty sure that’s a real quote. Everyone knows the great storyteller. They also know the terrible one and are still waiting for the punch line to hit.
Buffy gives some good advice at the end of the episode - “When someone asks how are you, don’t say fine”…use it as an opportunity to share what you’re working on or tell your story, then turn it back to them. She says it could lead to a new relationship, opportunity, etc.
(I don’t think this is a green light to dump your life story on someone in passing, but you get the point)

A couple cool Things I saw this week:
Jalen Hurts calling Peyton Manning asking “very specific questions.” Ask specific questions get specific answers…
Peyton Manning says Eagles QB Jalen Hurts calls him and asks “very specific questions.”
Manning adds that Hurts’ “appreciation of the cerebral part of the game is what is impressive” to him.

This is just a reminder to self then anything else. Do you need the pit stop at Wawa for more zyns? Do you need the Wednesday night glass of wine? (Sometimes, yes)
Neuroplasticity works faster under high emotional intensity. If you can resist a craving when it’s at its peak, you get a bigger rewiring effect. This is why the hardest moments matter most, they’re not setbacks, they’re high-voltage opportunities to change.
